Why “Monjya” ?

Although the definition of Monjya-yaki is so simple (Prof.wikipedia), nobody around me could explain what “Monjya” means. I know “Momonjya” is a duck-like monster appeared in DQ games, but that is totally different one..

As usual, I visited Prof Wikipedia’s office (Japanese ver), and finally got the answer. Monjya-yaki was originally called as “Moji-yaki” because kids in Edo-period often played writing characters (Moji) with the batter.
